Custom exhaust work for Gibraltar drivers is made in-house at SRM Performance, about 2 km over the frontier in La Línea. We TIG-weld stainless steel and aluminium in the workshop, so an exhaust can be built around your car rather than bought off a shelf.
Sound behaves differently in Gibraltar. Narrow streets, high walls and tunnels bounce noise back at you, so an exhaust that sounds great on an open road can drone or boom in town. That's worth thinking about before choosing pipe sizes and silencers. Cut-out valves are one answer: quiet when you want it, more voice when you open them, though how and where you use them is the owner's responsibility.
The salt air is the other Gibraltar factor. Mild-steel factory systems rust from the inside on short-trip cars, and stainless lasts much longer. We build to your spec and talk openly about the MOT and ITV, because a louder exhaust can affect whether a car passes and keeping it legal is down to the owner. If you leave the car with us, we can drop you back at the frontier.

Bringing the car over for an exhaust
Custom work takes longer than a bolt-on, so it's common to leave the car; we tell you how long when we quote. The workshop is about 2 km from the frontier, around 5 minutes by car and 35 minutes on foot. You can drive straight over.
Exhaust work we make
Cat-back systems
Stainless systems from the back of the factory catalyst to the tailpipes, with silencer choices to match the sound you want.
Downpipes
TIG-welded downpipes for turbo cars, built to the customer's spec and usually paired with a remap.
Cut-out valves
Electronically or vacuum-controlled valves fitted into the system, so the car can run quietly or open up.
Repairs and one-offs
Replacing rusted sections, fabricating brackets and building systems for engine swaps or cars with no off-the-shelf option.

Frequently asked questions
Will a custom exhaust pass the Gibraltar MOT?
It depends on the system and how loud it is. Louder exhausts can fail noise checks at an MOT or ITV. We'll be honest about it, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.
Stainless or aluminium?
Most exhausts are stainless, which handles heat and the sea air well. Aluminium suits intake pipes, intercooler pipework and some brackets.
Can you make it quieter in town?
Yes, through silencer choice, pipe size or a cut-out valve. Tell us how you use the car and we'll suggest options.
How much does a custom exhaust cost?
It depends on the car and the system. Send photos and details on WhatsApp and we quote after seeing them.
