An ECU remap for Estepona drivers at SRM Performance starts before the laptop goes anywhere near the car. We read the fault codes, look at plugs, coil packs, boost leaks and the clutch, because a new map asks more of the engine, and in a coastal summer the intake temperatures are already high on a standard car.
Most of what comes in from Estepona is turbocharged petrol VAG, BMW and Mercedes-AMG: the 2.0 TSI in Golf GTIs, Golf Rs and Cupras, the B58 in the BMW M140i and M240i, the five-cylinder 2.5 in the Audi RS 3, the four-cylinder in the A 45. We also do everyday diesels like a 330d or a Transporter TDI, where the extra torque shows when overtaking on the A-7 or climbing into the hills.
We always save a copy of the original software. If the car has a dual-clutch automatic, on many models we can adjust the gearbox to match too. And if you want a pops and bangs map we'll write one, but be warned: it's louder, it can cause trouble at the ITV, and not everyone in a shared underground car park will appreciate it. Keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.

Frequently asked questions
Will a remap void my warranty?
It can affect the manufacturer's warranty if the car is still covered. Worth weighing up before remapping a new car.
Can I go back to the original software?
On most cars, yes, because we save a copy of the original before changing anything.
Will a remapped car use more fuel?
Driven normally it may use about the same, or a little less on a diesel; if you use the extra power, it will use more.
Do I need to tell my insurer?
It's sensible to declare any power modification to your insurer. ITV and homologation are the owner's responsibility, and we can help with both.
