Leon Cupras and Formentor VZs are everywhere on the roads around Marbella, so it makes sense to find a Seat and Cupra mechanic who knows them inside out. At SRM Performance in La Línea we work on VAG cars every day, and Cupras share a lot of their oily bits with the Golf GTI and R.
The Leon Cupra 280, 290 and 300, the Cupra Leon VZ, the Formentor VZ and the Ateca Cupra all run versions of the 2.0 TSI EA888. There's plenty of headroom in it, but the usual faults apply: water pump and thermostat housing leaks, and plugs and coils that need watching on a remapped car. The Formentor VZ5 is a different animal, with Audi's 2.5 five-cylinder and a sound that deserves a proper exhaust.
It isn't all Cupras. We also see a lot of Ibiza FRs and Leons with the 1.0 and 1.5 TSI, daily cars in Marbella that do lots of short runs and need servicing on time. And if your DSG starts juddering, it's best looked at early.
Exhausts and remaps are done to your spec. They can affect the ITV, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.
