Mercedes-Benz and AMG mechanic for Marbella
If you're looking for a Mercedes and AMG mechanic from Marbella, the choice often comes down to the main dealer or a general garage that has never had a twin-turbo V8 apart. SRM Performance in La Línea sits in between: an independent workshop that works on Mercedes and AMG all the time, and handles the exhaust and software side too.
An AMG kept in Puerto Banús or on the Golden Mile can lead a hard life on very few miles. Cold starts, ten-minute trips and long spells parked up. The 4.0 twin-turbo V8 (M177) in the later C63 and E63, and the naturally aspirated 6.2 (M156) in the earlier C63, both reward an owner who has them checked by someone who knows their weak spots. The M156, for instance, is known for head bolt and camshaft adjuster trouble.
Plenty of everyday Mercedes come through as well: C-Class, E-Class and GLC diesels with the OM651 or OM654, A-Class and CLA, and the G-Class. Airmatic air suspension on older E- and S-Class cars gets tired with age, and the 7G-Tronic gearbox suffers when nobody has changed its fluid.
If you want more from your AMG, we build valved stainless exhausts and write remaps to your spec. Both can affect the ITV in Spain, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.

Driving route to the workshop
Bringing your Mercedes down from Marbella
It's about 75 km on the A-7 or AP-7, past Estepona and Sotogrande to the La Línea turn-off at San Roque. Allow around 55 minutes. In an AMG, it's a good chance to get the engine properly up to temperature.
Common Mercedes and AMG jobs
Fault finding
Reading codes and proving the fault before fitting parts, especially on electrics and suspension.
Airmatic suspension
Leaking air struts and bags, tired compressors and valve blocks that let the car sink overnight.
Custom AMG exhausts
TIG-welded stainless exhausts with valves, so the car can be quiet or loud as you choose.
ECU remapping
Bespoke maps for the A45, C43, C63 and E63, always on an engine we've checked first.
Servicing and gearbox fluid
Servicing to the Mercedes schedule, plus automatic gearbox fluid changes that many cars never get.

Frequently asked questions
Are you a Mercedes main dealer?
No. We're an independent workshop that works on Mercedes and AMG regularly. We'll explain what we find and quote before starting.
Can you service my Mercedes without losing the history?
We service to the manufacturer's schedule and give you a full breakdown of the work. We can also record the service in the Mercedes service history.
My E-Class sits low in the morning. What's wrong?
Usually a leaking air strut or bag, or a valve in the suspension block. It needs tracing before anything is replaced, and that's where we start.
How much is an exhaust for a C63?
It depends on which section you're replacing, the material and whether it has valves. Send us photos and we quote after seeing them.
Will an exhaust or remap cause ITV problems?
It can. We build to your spec, but keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility, and we'll talk it through before we start.
