The EA888 in the GTI and R takes well to a remap, but it has known weak points: the water pump and thermostat housing start weeping coolant with age, and plugs and coils have a harder time once power goes up. The six-speed DSG (DQ250) wants a fluid change every 60,000 km, and the seven-speed dry-clutch DSG (DQ200) found in Polos and smaller-engined Golfs has a reputation for mechatronic and clutch problems.
Around Marbella there are also lots of Transporters and Californias that spend whole summers between the beach and the hills. Clutches, timing belts and services on these vans are everyday work for us.

How much power does a Golf GTI gain from a remap?
It depends on the generation, the engine's condition and what's fitted. We don't give figures before seeing the car, but the extra low-down response is very noticeable.
My DSG judders pulling away. What should I do?
On a seven-speed dry-clutch DSG (DQ200) it may be the mechatronic unit or the clutch. On a six-speed wet-clutch box, start by checking when the fluid was last changed. We diagnose before replacing anything.
Do you work on Transporters and Californias?
Yes: clutches, timing belts, servicing and general repairs, and the California camper equipment too.
