White Porsche 911 GT3 RS in a car park

SPECIALISM · PORSCHE · MARBELLA

Porsche mechanic for Marbella

Marbella has a lot of Porsches, and not all of them go back to the dealer. If you want an independent Porsche mechanic from Marbella, SRM Performance is in La Línea, about 75 km away, with mechanics, fabrication and software under one roof.

Each generation has its quirks. The 996 and early 997 911s, and Boxsters and Caymans with M96 and M97 engines, are known for the intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing and bore scoring. V8 Cayennes (955 and 957) have plastic coolant pipes under the intake manifold that crack with age. Macans, more and more common around Nueva Andalucía and Sierra Blanca, use a twin-turbo V6 and a PDK gearbox that needs its servicing kept up. And the four-cylinder turbo 718 Cayman and Boxster take well to an exhaust and a map.

A Porsche that lives in Marbella usually does low mileage and spends a lot of time parked. Flat batteries, rusty discs, tyres that crack before they wear out. None of that shows on the odometer, which is why we check for it.

We build custom exhausts and write remaps to your spec. These can affect the ITV, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility. We also handle the Porsche-specific jobs, such as IMS bearings and Cayenne coolant pipes.

Frequently asked questions

Are you an official Porsche Centre?

No. We're an independent workshop that works on Porsches regularly. We'll explain what we find and quote before starting.

I've got an early 997. Should I worry about the IMS?

It's a known weak point on the M96 and M97. The sensible first step is checking the oil and filter and the general health of the engine.

Can you service the PDK?

Yes. The PDK fluid change is part of the maintenance schedule and shouldn't be skipped.

Do you take GT3s or Turbo S models?

Yes, we work on them. Tell us what you've got and what it needs.

My Porsche sits for months at a time. What do you check?

Battery, brakes, tyres, leaks and fluid levels. A car that rarely moves ages differently, and that needs checking even on low mileage.
