Most people looking for a BMW mechanic from Sotogrande own one of two cars: an X5 or 3 Series diesel that never stops working, or an M car that's kept purely for the joy of it. At SRM Performance in La Línea we look after both, and everything in between.
BMWs have well-documented faults, and it pays to get ahead of them. The N47 diesel has its timing chain at the back of the engine, and if it starts to rattle you want to act early. On the N54 and N55 turbo petrols, the high-pressure fuel pump, the electric water pump and the oil filter housing gasket are all familiar failures. M cars are a different conversation: rod bearings on the E46 M3's S54 and the E9x M3's S65 V8 are something every owner has read about, and the S54's VANOS has its own history.

It could be. On the N47 it's a well-known sign of a worn timing chain. Don't leave it: bring it in so we can listen and diagnose it properly.
Do you work on older M cars like the E46 M3?
Yes, we see them often. Servicing, setting up and performance work to the owner's spec.
How much power will a remap give my BMW?
It depends on the engine, its condition and what's fitted. We don't quote figures without seeing the car, but we'll tell you what's realistic.
