Mercedes and AMG mechanic for Sotogrande
A Mercedes mechanic for Sotogrande has to be comfortable with two very different cars: the C-Class or GLE diesel that does the daily miles, and the AMG that only comes out on a Sunday for a run up into the hills. At SRM Performance in La Línea we see both regularly, along with the odd older SL whose owner has no intention of selling.
Every generation has its known weak spots. The four-cylinder OM651 diesels are known for injector trouble and, where oil changes have slipped, timing chain wear. The M271 petrol engines in older C- and E-Class cars stretch their chains. The 7G-Tronic gearbox has an electronic conductor plate that gets temperamental with age. On the AMG side, the 6.2 V8 (M156) in the C 63 and E 63 has its own list, and the later 4.0 twin-turbo needs its cooling system kept in good order.
We also do the work a main dealer won't: ECU remaps, custom exhausts and lowering or air suspension, all to your spec. And if there's an R107 or a W113 Pagoda in the garage, restoration, bodywork and paint are part of what we do too.

Head down the A-7 towards San Roque, take the A-383 into La Línea, and you're at the workshop about 2 km from the Gibraltar frontier. It's around 20–25 km, about 26 minutes by car. We can also collect and deliver the car: ask us on WhatsApp, as it depends on where you are.

Yes. Both the 6.2 and the 4.0 twin-turbo V8s need a healthy cooling system. Bring it in, or message us the symptoms on WhatsApp first.
Do you remap AMG engines?
Yes, once we've checked the car over. We'll tell you what's realistic for your engine and what it means for the ITV and your insurance. Keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.
Do you restore classic Mercedes?
