Car repairs and servicing in La Línea

SRM Performance handles car repairs and servicing in La Línea de la Concepción, from routine services to electrical faults and diagnostics on any make. We're just over the border from Gibraltar, so it's an easy run if you live or work on the Rock.

What repairs and servicing covers

This is the everyday work that keeps a car on the road: oil and filter changes, scheduled services to the manufacturer's plan, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, auxiliary belts, batteries and electrics. It's also tracking down the cause when a warning light comes on or the car starts behaving oddly.

You'll mostly see our exhausts and performance builds on social media, but routine repair work matters just as much. We see a lot of VAG group cars (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Cupra), plus Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and Jaguar, but we'll work on anything: the family hatchback, the work van, or the car that's due its ITV or MOT next week.

Diagnostics are a big part of it. Almost every fault on a modern car leaves a code in one of its control units, but a code only tells you where to start looking. A sensor reporting a bad reading might be faulty, or it might be fine and the real problem is a wire, a connector or something mechanical. So we read the codes, test properly, and don't fit parts on a hunch.

When to bring it in

A few signs it's worth having a look before a small problem becomes a bigger bill:

  • The engine management, ABS, airbag or any other warning light is on.
  • A service is due by the book or the dashboard reminder has come up.
  • Noise when braking, a shaking steering wheel, or the car pulling to one side.
  • Hard starting, juddering, loss of power or worse fuel economy than usual.
  • Electrical gremlins: a flat battery, windows, lights or central locking not working.
  • Oil or coolant leaks, or the temperature gauge climbing higher than normal.
  • An ITV or MOT coming up and you'd rather find any problems before the tester does.

How we work

  1. STEP 01

    Tell us what's going on

Send a WhatsApp or give us a ring. The more detail you can give (when it happens, hot or cold, which light is on), the quicker we can point the inspection in the right direction.

  2. STEP 02

    Diagnosis

We read the control units, inspect the car and confirm the cause before touching anything. The aim is to find the actual fault, not to swap parts until it goes away.

  3. STEP 03

We explain the fault and quote

We tell you what we've found, what's urgent and what can wait, and what it will cost. Nothing gets done until you've said yes.

  4. STEP 04

    The repair

We carry out the agreed work. If something turns up once it's apart that changes the quote, we call you before going any further.

  5. STEP 05

    Road test and handover

We clear the codes, road test the car and check everything is as it should be. If you'd like to see the old parts, just ask.

Frequently asked questions

Will servicing with you affect my manufacturer's warranty?

Under EU rules you can have your car serviced by an independent garage without losing the warranty, as long as the manufacturer's schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet its specifications. We'll record what's been done.

Do you use genuine parts?

We use both genuine parts and good-quality equivalents, and we'll explain the options. If you'd prefer one or the other, mention it when you ask for a quote.

My engine warning light has come on. Can I keep driving?

If it's on steadily and the car feels normal, you can usually get it to us without drama. If it's flashing, the car has lost power or it's misfiring, pull over and call us: a misfire can damage the catalytic converter.

Can you check my car before its ITV or MOT?

Yes. We go over lights, brakes, tyres, worn joints, leaks and dashboard warnings, which is where most failures come from, and tell you what's worth sorting before the test.

I live in Gibraltar. Will you look at a Gibraltar-registered car?

Yes. We're very close to the border, so it's an easy trip over. Message us on WhatsApp on +34 642 63 66 39 and we'll book you in.
