A custom exhaust for a car that lives in Fuengirola has a very specific job: sound good on the autovía or the road up to Mijas, without upsetting the neighbours when you start it in the underground garage first thing. At SRM Performance in La Línea we build them ourselves, about 105 km from your door.
We work in stainless steel with TIG welds, section by section, on the car itself. That means we choose the pipe diameter, silencers and tailpipes for your engine and the sound you want, rather than forcing a generic kit to fit. If you want both discretion and noise, valves are the answer: shut in town, open when you choose.
There's another reason to think about a new exhaust on the coast: salt. Mild-steel factory systems rust with age, especially on cars that only do short runs and never dry out the condensation inside. A well-welded stainless system lasts far better.
Most of what we build is turbo-back systems for the Golf GTI and R, Audi S3 and RS3, Cupras and BMW M cars, plus full systems for AMGs and Porsches. A louder exhaust can affect the ITV and noise rules: we build to your spec and explain the risks, but keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.

Driving route to the workshop
Bringing the car from Fuengirola
It's about 105 km on the A-7 or AP-7, coming off at San Roque for La Línea. Allow roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. Time in the workshop depends on the car and the job; we'll tell you when we quote. We can also collect and deliver the car; ask us, as it depends on where you are.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have an exhaust that sounds good without annoying the neighbours?
Yes, with valves. Closed, the car sounds close to standard; open, it sounds the way we've agreed.
Why stainless?
Because it copes with the damp and salt on the coast far better than the mild steel used in most factory exhausts.
Will a custom exhaust pass the ITV?
It depends on the design and its homologation. We'll flag it before starting; keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility. If needed, we can help with the ITV and homologation.
Do I need a remap after fitting the exhaust?
Not always. With a turbo-back system and new downpipe, adjusting the map is usually worthwhile. We'll explain for your car.
