Performance car mechanic for Fuengirola

A performance car mechanic is worth the drive from Fuengirola when what you want isn't one bolt-on part but a car that's been thought through. At SRM Performance in La Línea, remapping, TIG exhaust fabrication, suspension and mechanical work all happen under one roof, and that's what makes the 105 km worthwhile.

A sensible build starts with a conversation. Do you use the car for the commute to Málaga on the autovía, for Sunday runs up to Mijas Pueblo and on towards Coín, or for the odd track day? Each one asks for something different. A more aggressive map doesn't help much if the brakes and tyres can't keep up, and a car that's been slammed is a nuisance over Fuengirola's speed bumps and down into underground car parks.

We usually work in stages. First, a healthy car: a proper check, plugs, coil packs, clutch and any leaks. Then the map and exhaust, which is where the character changes most. If you want to carry on, intake, intercooler, air suspension or lowering springs, all built to your spec. With VAG cars, which make up most of what we see, we have a clear idea of what works on each engine.

We build to your spec, and some modifications affect the ITV and homologation. We'll flag that before we start, but keeping the car road-legal is the owner's responsibility.

Driving route to the workshop

Planning a build from Fuengirola

We're about 105 km down the coast, A-7 or AP-7 to San Roque. Allow roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. With a staged build it pays to plan visits so you're not making extra trips: we can collect and deliver the car, depending on where you are.

What goes into a performance build

  • Baseline check

We check the engine and clutch before asking them for more power.

  • Map and exhaust together

Remap and custom exhaust planned as a package, not as separate parts.

  • TIG fabrication

Downpipes, intercooler pipework and exhausts in stainless or aluminium, made in the workshop.

  • Suspension

Lowering kits and air suspension, set up for how the car is really used.

Models we see

  • Volkswagen Golf R
  • Audi RS3
  • Cupra Formentor VZ5

Frequently asked questions

Where should I start if I want to modify my car?

Tell us how you use it and what you want from it. Usually we start by getting the car healthy, then map and exhaust. We'll quote each stage separately.

Do you do everything in-house?

Mechanical work, remapping, TIG exhaust fabrication and suspension, yes. That's how everything ends up working together.

Can a modified car still be a daily driver?

Yes, and that's most of what we do. A valved exhaust and a well-written map give you a car that's civilised around Fuengirola and fun on a good road.

Can you help with homologation?

Yes. Either way, we'll tell you which changes may affect the ITV.

How long does a build take?

It depends heavily on the stages and parts; you'll get a timescale with the quote.
