An ECU remap for Marbella drivers is one of the jobs we do most at SRM Performance in La Línea. And it nearly always starts the same way: checking the car over before going anywhere near the software.
A car living the Marbella life, all short trips around town, summer traffic and rarely properly warm, can turn up with worn plugs, weak coils or vacuum leaks that haven't thrown a warning light. Remap it like that and the problems show up afterwards. So we look at stored fault codes, ignition health, the clutch and boost before anything else.
Then we talk about what you want. Stronger pull from low revs for joining the AP-7 without a fight, smoother delivery on a diesel, or a more aggressive map for a car with a new exhaust. We read and save the original software, write the agreed map, and road-test the car while logging live data. On automatics, we adjust the gearbox too where the car allows it.
Pops and bangs maps are done on request. They make the car louder and can cause trouble at the ITV, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.

Driving route to the workshop
Coming from Marbella for a remap
About 75 km along the coast on the A-7 or AP-7, then the La Línea turn-off at San Roque, roughly 55 minutes. How long a remap takes depends on the car; we tell you when we quote.
Types of remap
Standard-car map
More torque and response with no hardware changes, matched to the engine's real condition.
Map for modified hardware
Software adapted for a new exhaust, intake or intercooler.
Gearbox tuning
DSG, S tronic or ZF adjustments where the car allows, so the gearbox keeps up with the new map.
Pops and bangs
Overrun crackle on request, with the downsides spelled out.

Frequently asked questions
How much power will I gain?
It depends on the engine, its condition and what's fitted. We don't quote figures before seeing the car.
Can it go back to standard?
We save a copy of the factory software before changing anything. Ask us about the terms for reloading it.
Will a remap affect my warranty?
It can affect the manufacturer's warranty. If your car is still covered, weigh that up before remapping.
What equipment do you use?
Professional diagnostic and programming tools. Before any remap we back up the original ECU software, so the car can always go back to standard.
Will a remap cause problems at the ITV or MOT?
It can, particularly with pops and bangs maps or alongside exhaust changes. Keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.
