Porsche is probably the make most people associate with Sotogrande, and plenty of owners here end up looking for an independent Porsche mechanic once the car is a few years old and out of the dealer's orbit. At SRM Performance in La Línea, 911s, Boxsters, Caymans, Cayennes and Macans are cars we see often.
Each generation has its story. The 996, the 986 Boxster and early 997s with the M96 or M97 engine have the infamous IMS bearing, and some of those engines are also prone to bore scoring and a weeping rear main seal. First-generation Cayenne V8s have plastic coolant pipes in the engine's vee that crack with age. PDK gearboxes need their oil, and on the 991 and 718 the sports exhaust valves can play up.
Then there are the air-cooled cars, the 964, the 993 and the impact-bumper G-series, which aren't rare in Sotogrande at all. That's where mechanical work, restoration, bodywork, paint and headlight and caliper refurbishment all come together in one workshop. And if you'd like a TIG-welded stainless custom exhaust for your Cayman or 911, we make those too.

Driving route to the workshop
Bringing a Porsche down from Sotogrande
From Sotogrande, the A-7 or AP-7 takes you to San Roque and the A-383 into La Línea. It's about 20–25 km of dual carriageway with no mountain passes, about 26 minutes by car. If you'd rather not drive it, we can collect it: ask us on WhatsApp, as it depends on where you are.

Frequently asked questions
Should I replace the IMS bearing on my 996?
It depends on the engine, its history and whether it's been done already. It affects M96 and M97 engines in the 996, 986 and early 997. We'll give you an honest view of the risk and, if it needs doing, we do it here.
Do you work on air-cooled classic Porsches?
Yes, 964, 993 and G-series. Mechanical work, restoration, bodywork and paint. Send us photos and we'll tell you how we'd approach it.
Do you make custom exhausts for Porsches?
Yes, TIG-welded stainless custom exhausts and exhaust valves, to your spec. Bear in mind that a louder exhaust can cause trouble at the ITV or MOT.
Are you an official Porsche centre?
No, we're an independent workshop. We work to the manufacturer's specifications and explain what we're doing and why.
How much is a Porsche service?
It depends on the model and what's due. Message us on +34 642 63 66 39 with the model and mileage. We'll quote once we've seen the car or photos on WhatsApp.
