Common Skoda jobs
TDI cambelt and water pump
The 1.6 and 2.0 TDI engines in the Octavia, Superb, Kodiaq and Karoq are belt-driven. On a high-mileage car it's the most important maintenance job, and we always do it with the tensioner, idlers and water pump.
Clutch and dual-mass flywheel
On manual diesel Octavias and Superbs the dual-mass flywheel wears with mileage. Judder as the clutch comes up or a clunk when you switch off are the classic signs.
Seven-speed DSG
The seven-speed dry-clutch DSG in the Fabia, Scala, Kamiq and lower-powered Octavias is known for judder pulling away and mechatronic faults as it ages. We repair DSG mechatronic units and do the oil changes.
1.2 and 1.4 TSI timing chain
Early 1.2 TSI engines and the supercharged 1.4 TSI in the Fabia vRS are known for chain stretch. A brief rattle on a cold start is the warning. We replace timing chains in the workshop.
Octavia vRS: health check and tuning
The 2.0 TSI in the Octavia vRS is the same engine as a Golf GTI. Before a remap or a custom exhaust, we check it over properly. Any modification can affect the ITV or MOT, and keeping the car road-legal is the owner's responsibility.

My Octavia has done big miles. What should I get checked?
The cambelt if it's a TDI, the clutch and flywheel, the DSG oil if it has one, plus brakes and suspension. Send us the mileage and history on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's due.
Can I have a new Skoda serviced away from the dealer?
As general information, EU rules allow servicing at an independent garage without losing the manufacturer's warranty, provided the schedule is followed and parts of matching quality are used.
