Nissan mechanic in La Línea
We're an independent Nissan mechanic in La Línea de la Concepción, about 2 km from the Gibraltar frontier. We look after family Qashqais, working Navaras and the VQ-engined sports cars.
The Nissans around here cover the whole range. Qashqais, Jukes and Micras doing town and motorway miles every day, Navara pick-ups that work for a living and, more and more, 350Zs and 370Zs bought purely for fun. Now and then, a GT-R.
The VQ V6 in the Z cars is a tough engine, but it has known quirks. Some VQ35s use more oil than they should, and the VQ37 in the 370Z is known for an internal oil gallery gasket that fails and drops oil pressure. Clutch slave cylinders are another common 370Z fault. All worth knowing before you buy one or ask it for more power.
On the everyday models the watch points are different: oil use and timing chains on the 1.2 DIG-T, the CVT gearbox in the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke, and dCi diesels that share their engines with Renault. On the D40 Navara, check the chassis too. Coastal salt is hard on it.
Common Nissan jobs
VQ engine oil consumption
We measure how much it's using and check for leaks and engine condition. With a VQ, checking the dipstick often isn't optional.
VQ37 oil gallery gasket
A known 370Z fault that causes low oil pressure. If the warning flickers or pressure drops when hot, stop driving it and get it checked.
370Z clutch and slave cylinder
The concentric slave cylinder is a typical weak point. A soft pedal or one that sticks to the floor are the signs. We replace it, with a full clutch if needed.
CVT gearbox on Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke
Whine, judder or a loss of drive. We read the gearbox ECU and check the fluid before deciding anything.
Navara timing chain and chassis
Timing chains on the 2.5 dCi and chassis corrosion on the D40. We check both and tell you straight what condition it's in.
GT-R
Servicing the dual-clutch gearbox and the VR38 engine calls for specific procedures, and we work on both.

I'm buying a 370Z. What should I check?
Oil level and consumption, oil pressure when hot, the clutch and slave cylinder, and the service history. If you like, bring it in and we'll inspect it before you hand over the money.
Do you do exhausts and remaps for the 350Z and 370Z?
Yes: custom TIG-welded stainless exhausts and software changes to suit the car. A louder exhaust can affect the ITV or MOT, and keeping the car legal is the owner's responsibility.
Do you work on GT-Rs?
