Audi specialist in La Línea

Looking for an Audi specialist in La Línea de la Concepción? SRM Performance works on the VAG group every day, from the diesel A3 to the five-cylinder RS3, about 2 km from the Gibraltar border.

Audi shares its engines and gearboxes with Volkswagen, Seat, Cupra and Skoda, which works in your favour: the same faults turn up again and again and are well understood. A 2.0 TFSI that drinks oil, an S tronic that judders pulling away, a leaking thermostat housing: we see all of these regularly across the group.

We're not an Audi dealer. We're an independent mechanical, fabrication and tuning workshop. We handle servicing, clutches, timing belts and engine swaps, and for S and RS models we also build stainless exhausts and remap ECUs.

Before any performance work we look at the condition of the car. On a high-mileage RS3 or S3, one tired coil pack or a boost leak makes all the difference to the result.

Common Audi faults and jobs

  • EA888 2.0 TFSI: chain and oil consumption

Early EA888 engines (A3, A4, A5, Q5 and TT from roughly 2008 to 2012) are known for timing chain tensioner trouble and burning oil past the piston rings. If you're topping up between services, get it looked at. We replace timing chains in the workshop.

  • Water pump and thermostat on the EA888 Gen 3

On later TFSI engines the water pump and thermostat housing is plastic and leaking coolant is common. A dropping level or a sweet smell after a drive is your cue to check it before the engine overheats.

  • S tronic gearbox and mechatronics

The seven-speed dry-clutch S tronic (DQ200) in the A1, A3 and Q2 is known for mechatronic unit and clutch faults. The wet-clutch boxes (DQ250, DQ381, DQ500) need regular oil changes. We repair DSG mechatronic units and do the oil changes.

  • Carbon build-up on intake valves

Direct-injection engines build up carbon on the intake valves because fuel never washes over them. It shows up as misfires, a lumpy idle and flat response. It affects the TFSI engines and the 4.2 V8 in the B7 RS4.

  • Haldex quattro

On the A3, S3, RS3, TT and Q3, quattro uses a Haldex coupling that needs its own oil and filter change. Skip it and the car can end up running in front-wheel drive most of the time without telling you.

  • 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder: exhaust and mapping

The RS3, TT RS and RS Q3 engine is a favourite for tuning. We build exhausts and valved systems and write maps to the owner's spec. They can affect the ITV or MOT, and keeping the car road-legal is the owner's responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

Does servicing my Audi independently affect the warranty?

As general information, EU rules allow servicing at an independent garage without losing the manufacturer's warranty, provided the schedule is followed and parts of matching quality are used. Warranty repairs themselves stay with the dealer network.

My S tronic judders pulling away. What could it be?

It could be the clutch packs, the mechatronic unit, or simply that it needs an adaptation or an oil change. Send us the model and symptoms on WhatsApp and we'll take it from there.

Do you remap Audi S and RS models?

Yes, we remap and write custom maps after checking the car over first. We save a copy of the original software before changing anything.

Are you an Audi main dealer?

No. We're an independent workshop in La Línea working across the VAG group. We'll tell you which parts go on your car for every job.
